Hiking and Real Estate

Recovering at Base Camp

Following the suggestion of his fit and well-heeled dentist, Bill D., Greg thought he’d take his Sweetie to Jasper to celebrate their 31st wedding anniversary. “The Bald Hills hike is easy,” Dr. Bill assured Greg, “and the views are panoramic.”

HikeJasper.com says it “is about 6km if you take the old fire road up and a little over 4km on the shorter, steeper route to the ridge above the lookout point. Just over 10km round trip to ascend and descend the Bald Hills.” The old fire road is hard-packed gravel, steep, and unrelenting.  Quite simply, it wore Greg out. He couldn’t understand why. Normally, he was indefatigable.

The view held no allure and when he collapsed in the seat of the car back at the trailhead, he discovered why. He had forgotten his orthotics. Eleven kilometers on fallen arches make for a long day. He returned to Edmonton a wiser and humbler man, ready to help people buy and sell houses. Lendrum is his passion. Give Greg a call or visit his website, if you need a REALTOR®  who knows the market and whose children attended Avalon.

Sometimes Size Matters

In all the years that Greg and his Sweetie have visited Jasper National Park, he can count on one hand the number of times he has seen a grizzly bear ranging freely. This one was on the road to Maligne Lake, eating its full of berries for the long winter’s hibernation ahead.
Greg rolled the window down on his car and gingerly took a few shots, wishing his camera lens weren’t so modest.
